Artificial intelligence has enormous potential in golf. It can help analyze the swing, understand shot dispersion, improve practice, support equipment fitting, optimize course management and make golf-course operations more efficient.

For me, however, one of the most interesting developments is what AI may reveal about the mental side of golf.

Golfers do not lose strokes only because of imperfect technique. We lose strokes because we choose the wrong target, become impatient after a mistake, lose concentration, attempt shots that do not belong to our game or interfere with movements that we already know how to perform.

AI may help us recognize these patterns. Quiet Eye and other areas of golf psychology may help us understand what happens during the critical moments immediately before execution.

But technology should ultimately make the game simpler, not more complicated.

Use AI to understand your game. Use the information to make a decision. Then trust yourself enough to play the shot.
