(Español) Tiger Woods is the greatest golfer of all time. His talent, mental strength, and countless victories place him on a level few can ever reach. But what does it really mean to be a golfer?
If golf were only about trophies and world rankings, then yes—Tiger Woods is far more golfer than I am. But is that all there is to the game?
To be a golfer is more than a low handicap or a perfect swing. It’s passion, mindset, enthusiasm, perseverance. It’s waking up early for a round, practicing in the rain, and hitting that one pure shot that keeps you coming back.
A golfer lives the game. The inner golfer—the one I wrote about in one of my articles—isn’t defined by skill alone. It’s about respect for the sport, the honor of shaking hands on the 18th green, and the ability to lose with dignity. It’s about the love of the game, whether you’re playing in the Masters or just trying to break 90 on your local course.
In golf, we all learn life’s lessons. We learn to accept failure, to battle nerves, to stay composed when everything is going wrong. We learn to be humbled—by the course, by our own mistakes, by the sheer difficulty of the game. At least, it should be like that.
So, is Tiger Woods more golfer than me? If we measure it by major championships, absolutely. But if being a golfer means embracing the game with your whole heart, then I’d say we’re not so different after all. (I have published hundreds of articles of Tiger Woods)
A true golfer loves the smell of freshly cut grass, the fresh air, respects the course, and feels a special bond with their own golf club. It is a connection with nature, golf etiquette, and fellow players. It is not just a sport; it is a way of life based on respect and harmony with the environment and those who share the same passion.
Because a true golfer is not just someone who plays golf well—but someone who truly is golf.
