Con más de 50 marcas se vende en el exterior el banano ecuatoriano
Dos marcas multinaciones y una ecuatoriana comandan el top 3.

Desde el 2016 se exporta banano de la marca Doña Violeta a los mercados de Rusia, Medio Oriente, China y algunos países europeos.

El rostro sonriente de Violeta Ramírez aparece sobre un fondo ovalado de color rojo combinado con amarillo. El retrato es parte de la marca principal con que la Compañía Exportadora del Sur comercializa banano en el exterior.

Gino Pinargote, propietario de esa empresa con sede en Guayaquil, decidió incorporar la imagen de su madre para crear la marca Doña Violeta. El exportador dice que la idea surgió para rendir un homenaje a su madre fallecida.

Desde el 2016 y bajo esa marca exportan banano a los mercados de Rusia, Medio Oriente, China y algunos países europeos. Anualmente, Exportadora del Sur vende unos 2,5 millones de cajas de banano, principalmente a Rusia.
La compañía procura incluir los adhesivos en cada banano para que el cliente reconozca la marca. Las etiquetas incluso tienen un código QR para llevar al consumidor hacia el sitio web.

Ecuador exporta anualmente su banano bajo más de 50 marcas, entre sellos propios que pertenecen a exportadoras locales, multinacionales y otras que son propiedad de clientes que hacen los pedidos.

A más de marcas que llevan nombres en memoria de personas fallecidas, propietarios o fundadores de bananeras, hay otras que incluyen animales, paisajes, bananos caricaturizados o simplemente la marca tradicional de un negocio o transnacional.
