Detección de COVID-19 en adultos mayores: el oxímetro sería más útil que el termómetro

Todos nos hemos acostumbrado a que nos controlen la temperatura al entrar a un espacio cerrado o ante cualquier malestar, porque la fiebre es considerada un indicador clave de COVID-19.

Mas las profesoras del Colegio de Enfermería de la Universidad Estatal de Washington, Catherine Van Son y Deborah Eti, creen que usar un pulsooxímetro sería más útil que tomar la temperatura para detectar una infección por coronavirus en los adultos mayores. ¿Por qué?
El artículo, publicado en la revista científica Frontiers in Medicine, explica que la temperatura corporal es más baja en los adultos mayores, y una fiebre podría pasarse por alto, por estar debajo de los 38°C.
